On the 12th inst. defendant was abusing his mother, and she went in between them and pushed him by. He then struck her in the face, blackening one of her eyes. She told him he had better do it again, and he kicked her in the thigh. The defendant had previously knocked his mother down and kicked her while she was on the ground. - The defendant's mother gave similar evidence. - P.C. Mitchell said he had frequently had to go to the defendant in consequence of his conduct to his mother and brother. - The Bench said it was quite clear the defendant had been in the habit of behaving in a most abominable manner to his mother and cousin. He would be fined £2 and costs, and, in default of payment, would have to go to gaol for a month's hard labour."
