Formerly a florist, he had been for about 30 years a well-known builder and decorator. The funeral will be on Saturday at Rayleigh Cemetery, Hockley Road." (Chelmsford Chronicle Fri 15 May 1931)
"FUNERAL of Mr. G. S. Bysouth. As reported last week in the Essex Chronicle, Mr. George Samuel Bysouth, of Hockley Road, died on May 12 at the age of 69 years. Hailing from Hackney, he came to Hockley 30 years ago. He was a very well-known builder with extensive interests locally, and latterly in Southend. He came of a building family, his father having established himself in 1855. The deceased gained a wide experience in London, and, coming to the Essex spot, he lived to see great changes. He formerly resided in a cottage not far from his more recent abode, and in the course of the years, saw houses springing up in every direction. He took no leading part in local affairs, and his chief recreation was shooting, in which sense he was a great sportsman. He was in fact regarded as an authority on that pastime, and his articles upon it were well-known. The funeral was on Saturday at Rayleigh Cemetery, after a service at Holy Trinity Church, the Rev. A.G. Fryer officiating. The chief mourners were: The widow; Messrs. George, Thomas, and Robert Bysouth, sons; deceased's five daughters; Messrs. D. and H. Bysouth, brothers; and a number of nephews and nieces. The many wreaths included those sent by "Several Neighbours" and "All at Whipps Cross." (Chelmsford Chronicle Fri 22 May 1931)
