JOHN BYSOUTH, GENERATION 6 ~ 1685
John Bysouth left the following will (now at Essex Record
Office, Chelmsford)
In the name of God Amen I John Bysouth of East Reed in
the Countey of Hertfd yeoman being
somewhat weak in Body but of Sound perfect &
disposeing memory for the which I give God thanks I doe
make & ordaine this my last Will & Testament in
maner and forme following for (?) I asigne my Soul into
the merciful
hands of God my Maker hopeing through the mercy of Jesus
Christ my Saviour to receive free pardon and
forgiveness of all my sines and my body transmitt to the
earth decenly to be buryed according to the directions
of my Executrix here after nominated. ITEM I doe give and
bequeath unto my eldest son Joseph Bysouth
three cowes to be delivered to him by my Executrix next
Michalmas after the date of this my
Will my Executrix first taking her choyse of two cowes.
ITEM I doe give and bequeath unto my Daughter
Mary Bysouth the sum of three pounds of good and lawfull
money of England to be paid to her within
twelve yeares after my decease ITEM I doe give and
bequeath unto my daughter Grace Bysouth the sume of
three pounds of lawfull English money to be paid to her
within fourteene years after my decease ITEM I doe
give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth Bysouth the
sume of foure pounds of good and lawfull money
of England to be paid to her within sixteene years next
after my decease. ITEM I doe give and bequeath unto
my loveing wife Elizabeth Bysouth all that my messuage
and tenement scituate in East Reed aforesaid wherein
I now dwell together with all barnes buildings yards
gardens and backside (?) thereunto
belonging containing by
estimation one acre and one halfe be it more or less. To
have and to hold the said messuage or tenement
with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise apportayning unto her the said
Elizabeth my now wife during her naturall life and after
her decease to my heires for ever. ITEM I doe
give and bequeath unto the said Elizabeth my now wife all
that my cottage in East Reed aforesaid being
coppey hold belonging to the Mannor of Queenbury now in
the tenure and occupation of Elizabeth
Bysouth spinster to have and to hold the said cottage
with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto
belonging or in any wise apperteyneing unto her the said
Elizabeth my now wife for and during the
term of ten years after my decease and at the end or
expiration of the said ten years or after
her decease which first happens then to my two youngest
sons John Bysouth and Thomas
Bysouth equally to be devided and to their heirs and
assignes for ever All the residue of my
goods chattels and debt whatsoever unbequeathed doe I
give and bequeath unto Elizabeth my now wife
upon condition that she should pay all my debts and
legacies and funerall expenses and bring up my
children and I make and ordeine her the said Elizabeth my
now wife to be whole and sole Executrix
of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other
Wills by me hereaforesaid made.
IN WITTNESSE WHEREOF I have hereunto sett my hand and
seal the fourteenth day of February

JAMES
BYSOUTH, GENERATION 12 ~ 1896 No. 667. I, James Bysouth of 55 Dover Street
South Richmond in the Colony of Victoria being in good
health and of sound mind do hereby make and publish this
my last will and testament at the same time revoking all
former wills or codicils to wills by at any time
heretofore made. I give devise and bequeath all the
property of every kind of which I may be seized or
possessed whether real or personal freehold or chattels
whether held by me absolutely or by way of trust monetary
or otherwise howsoever and whether situated in the said
Colony or elsewhere unto my daughter Sarah Ann Johnson
for her sole and absolute use and benefit as fully and
freely as I now possess and enjoy secure and I also
direct the Secretary of the Police Widow's and Orphans
Association to pay the whole sum coming to me at my death
to the said Sarah Ann Johnson and I appoint the said
Sarah Ann Johnson sole executrix of this my will in
witness hereof I the said James Bysouth have hereunto
subscribed my name this fourteenth day of February in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety
six. James Bysouth. Signed by the said Testator and by
him published as his last will and testament in our
presence who at his request in his presence and in the
presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names
