(Trove Newpapers, Bendigo Advertiser Mon 25 Oct 1909).

"One of the oldest residents of the Raywood district, Mr. Thos Crapper, died at his residence, the Shamrock hotel, Neilborough, on Sunday afternoon. The deceased gentleman, who (writes our correspondent) was in his 81st year, arrived in Viictoria in 1848, before the diggings broke out, and witnessed the stirring times of the goldfields. It used to afford him great pleasure to relate his experiences on the diggings. Mr. Crapper resided in the Raywood district for fully 50 years. He saw it rise from a scrubby bush to its present fine agricultural district. In the early days of Elysium Flat he worked as a miner, being one of the original shareholders in the old Buckley claim which gave very rich returns in the shallow workings, but for many years past, he had been in the hotelkeeping business combined with farming. He always enjoyed the best of health until about two weeks ago, when he suddenly broke down. The deceased gentleman was of a very quiet, unassuming disposition, but was a great reader. He leaves a widow and family of seven sons and two daughters, all well provided for.The funeral takes place to-day at the Raywood Cemetery." (Trove Newspapers, Bendigo Advertiser Tue 26 Oct 1909

"The funeral of the late Mr. Thomas Crapper took place yesterday to the Raywood Cemetery, moving from his late residence, the Shamrock hotel, Neilborough. The cortege was a lengthy one. The coffin was borne to the grave in the Church of England portion of the cemetery by Messrs. Hooper, Maitland, Fox and Reilly. The Rev. J. Rowell read the burial service. Messrs. Fizelle and Mulqueen were the undertakers. The deceased gentleman was born at Oxford, England, in April, 1829. He landed in Victoria in 1847, and subsequently married. His widow survives him. His sons are Messrs. David, George, William, Henry, and James, who reside int he district; Thomas, who is at present in New Zealand; and Frederick, who lives in Melbourne. His daughters are Mrs. ---Bourke, of Raywood, and Mrs. J. H. Daly, of Sydney Flat. Deceased had only been ill three weeks. Previously he had always enjoyed good health. He was noted for his honesty in all his dealings." (ref Trove Newspapers, Bendigo Advertiser, Wed 27 Oct 1909)
