| My father came from the
land of cakes Scotland by the David Clarke landing here
with his father & mother and others of his family.
His father was a member of the 73rd Highlanders. My
mother arrived with a married sister the year after by
the ship Ferguson 120 days out - she came from the
prettiest town in England, Bath - Well I came from the
most beautiful in Scotland viz Perth - My father saw a
large corroboree of blacks just about where Government
House now stands - He climbed a tree to get a better view
but they saw him and becaume so menacing that he ran off
as fast as he could. In process of time my parents met and married and I was born at the rear of Long & Co Chemists Bourke St city of Melbourne. While still very young we went to Flintoffs Station where we were flooded out loosing poultry and (unfinished) |
