Troqueer Register
The following information
was recorded in the old parochial registers of Troqueer, a parish of Kircudbrightshire. Note that the writing of Stoneyheugh or its variations (Stonyhaugh etc) is open to interpretation and varies each time it appears. It is presumed to be a farm. No mention of Stoneyheugh can be found in geographical indexes. In the 1881 Census, however, the location of 'Starry Hugh' occurs between Sloans Yard and Garrock Cottage, in the Troqueer Parish. In 1881, it was populated by the Beattie, Copland and Forteath families, none of which names appear in this family tree. Current maps show Starryheugh Farm, Sloan's Yard and Curriestanes in close proximity to Cargenbridge, all being close to Maxwelltown and Troqueer. |
