1.   John HAKE
Born c1600, baptism not found.
John was of Broad Clyst, Devon, and was mentioned in his grandfather's Will c1618 (see page 1).

Marr 6 Feb 1618/19 at Poltimore, Devon, England of John Hake to Agnes WILCOCKS (ref FamilySearch M051531 and Parish record 0916928). the Marriage Licence was 5 Feb 1618/19 as "John Hake of Brodecliste and Agnes Wilcock of Poltimore" (ref fmp image).

John probably died 1646 and left a Will (see list on page 1).
Burial of Agnis Hake 11 Mar 1681/82 at Broadclyst (ref fmp Devon Burials image). There is a reference elsewhere to her being called "The elder of Broadclyst".

It may have been this John Hake or the one below who signed the Protestation Return for Broadclyst, but not certain. John Hake junior signed, and John Hake was an Overseer.
During the spring of 1641 there was great unrest in Parliament with discord between the House of Commons and the House of Lords, and plots and sub-plots against both the King and Parliament itself. In May 1641 Parliament agreed upon the following Protestation Oath
“ I, ?--- ?--- do in the presence of Almighty God, promise, vow and protest to maintain and defend, as far as lawfully I may, with my Life, Power and Estate, the true reformed Protestant Religion, Expressed in the Doctrines of the Church of England, against all Popery and Popish Innovations, etc etc" (see many internet sites).

    Issue of John Hake and Grace  
1.   Julian HAKE
Julian was a witness to the Will of her cousin Ralph Hake in 1657.

Marr 8 Aug 1661 at Broad Clyst, Devon, England to Edward RATTCLIFF (ref FamilySearch M050001 and Parish records).
The parish record has "Julyan Hake, d of John" in reference to the marriage on 8 Aug 1661 to Edward Ratcliff; FamilySearch has Julian.

They were mentioned in her father's Will in 1678 as below (location of copy of Will unknown):
"HAKE, John of Broadclist, yeoman
Date of Will 22 Aug. 1678
Proved 9 Sept. 1678 by Grace Hake, relict and ex.rix
To my daughter Julian wife of Edward Ratcliffe 1s.
To Grace my daughter wife of Richd. Ball 1s.
All my lands goods and chattells in Broadclist to my wife Grace (my executrix) for her life, and after her death Joan Hake and Mary Hake my daughters shall enjoy the remainder of my lands, goods and chattells.
I ordain Raffe Hake and Edward Ratcliffe my true and trusty friends to be rulers in trust.
Witnesses: Ralph Hake, Robert Mormon, Edward Ratcliffe.

Julian's burial not found. There are several possibilities for Edward.

Marr 22 Sep 1664 at Holy Trinity, Exeter, Devon, England of Grace Hake to Richard BALL (ref FamilySearch M050901 and Parish record 0917095).

They were mentioned in her father's Will in 1678 as below (location of copy of Will unknown):
"HAKE, John of Broadclist, yeoman

1.   John HAKE
Described as 'infant' in his grandfather's Will c1618 (see page 1).
Executor of his father's Will c1676 (see page 1)
Described as 'Yeoman' of Broad Clyst, Devon.

It may have been this John Hake or the one above who signed the Protestation Return for Broadclyst, but not certain. John Hake junior signed, and John Hake was an Overseer.

Marr unknown VICKARY (source unknown).
Mentioned in her grandfather's Will c1618 (see page 1).
 
3.   Ralph HAKE
Described as 'Yeoman' of Broad Clyst, Devon.
Marr Agnes MOORE, daughter of Giles Moore (ref Ralph's Will; Giles was appointed an Overseer in 1657). Marriage not found.

In 1641/42 Ralph Hake signed the Protestation Return for Broadclyst.

Ralph and Agnes both left Wills.
Ralph's Will (written in the year he died, 1657) names his children Ralph, Giles, Mary and Rebecca, and states that Agnes is pregnant. None of the children had reached the age of 21. Detailed instructions are given as to the disposition of his money and property. Agnes was named as the Executrix and Giles Moore (his father in law) and Robert Hake (his father) were named as the Overseers. See also list of Wills on page 1.

Ralph died 1657, bur 8 Jul 1657 at Broad Clyst, Devon; he was named in this parish record as "Hake, Constabell Ralph", this being his position (ref Parish Record 0916761, not FamilySearch).

Agnes lost her last 3 children between 1657 and 1662.

4.   Robert HAKE
Marr 10 Jun 1646 at St Edmunds, Exeter, Devon, England of Robert Hake to Mary KEENE (ref FamilySearch M050921 and Parish record 0917098).

Robert was called the Administrator to 'John Hake, natural brother' (see page 1).

In 1641/42 Robert Hake jun. signed the Protestation Return for Broadclyst.
