He is listed as Pierre, son of Jean Leuesque and Madelaine Campart.

Previously on this tree I had him married to Madeleine HERICHER but on reviewing many births and marriages for Pierre Levesque, have concluded that this was wrong; therefore her children with another Pierre Levesque are on the
Other Levesque page. I also previously had him married to Elizabeth Lavasch but I have put her on the 'Other Levesque' page.

7.   Jean LEVESQUE
Bap 14 Sep 1701 at Threadneedle Street French Huguenot, London (ref IGI).
"Vol 16 LEVEQUE, Jean, fils de Jean L., weaver, et Madelaine, sa femme, dans Quaquer Street, paroisse de Stepney, Spitle feilds hameau. Tim. Jean Campari et Marie Senay. Sept. 14. -p212"

Married 16 May 1725 at Saint Jean, Spitalfields to Anne MARTEL (ref Quarto & Boyd). She was bap 2 Jan 1698 at Threadneedle Street, dau of Jacques Martel and Marthe Deheulle. (Ref IGI & PC). She was said to be a native of Bolbec, Normandy, France, but this may mean that her family were from Bolbec rather than herself (ref the marriage record which states that Jean Levesque was a native of London and Anne Martel was a native of Bolbec). However this baptism may not be the correct Anne Martel, as there may have been others at a similar time. Also, if children 10 and 11 are hers, then she would be rather old to give birth.
"LEVESQUE \ MARTEL / 1725, 16 Mai. Jean Levesque, natif de Londres - Anne Martel, native de Bolbec ; mar. par Mr. A. le Moine, Min. Tems. Estienne Lalleton, Anc. et Sec., Jaque Martel, sa marque."

In 1729 Jean was Godfather to his nephew Jean Poulain.

The following note is in the Huguenot Hospital record for John Levesque (b.1781): 'Peter Levesque my Great Uncle was Organist of St. Andrews Enfield, Middx. fifty years & Three months up to about the year 1822 when he died aged 79 years. When living my great Uncle told me that his Father was the minister of the London French Church Threadneedle Street.'

This comment in the same record may refer to Anne Martel's family: 'By enquiry many years ago of my Father & Mother (my mother's name was De la Cluse) they told me their family came from a
place call'd Bolbec near Rouen in Normandy about 1680-5 and first settled at Canterbury, and then in Spitalfields, as Silk Weavers'.

John was definitely deceased by 1753 (ref Will of Daniel Rollet, above). He is probably the John L'Evesque buried 4 Nov 1747 at St Matthew, Bethnal Green (ref Ancestry Burials etc).
Anne was said to be still living as a widow in 1765 (ref T.Sargeant).
It is probably Anne who was the Madame Anne l'evêque who was Godmother to Anne Magdelaine's children in 1760 and 1761.
