SEARL of England. Occupation at 1699 baptism of son George: 'thetcher' (ref Kenton parish records). Married 15 Jan 1697/98, in Kenton Parish, Devon, England, to Sarah HARRIS (ref Kenton parish and IGI records). Sarah's burial is probably the one on the 14 Jul 1699 at Kenton, as Sarah Searl, even though it specifies her as "spinster"; this occurred 3 days after George's christening (ref fmp Devon Burials image). No other possible burial has been found. FROM WHOM ELIZABETH SHADE NEE GRIERSON IS DESCENDED. It appears that George remarried to Anne, surname unknown (marriage not found in fmp or FamilySearch). The 1712 baptism of William notes that George was a "thetcher". |
