John had previously been married to Elizabeth Measures, with whom he had 2 children. Elizabeth died in 1814 a few days after childbirth and on 26 Feb 1814 was interred in the Dissenters burying ground (ref fmp image). John was a Master Frame Work Knitter employing 10 boys and 30 women. He died in 1862, and Mary died in 1865. Mary and John had 12 children together in addition to John's previous 2 with Elizabeth. Sidney was born c1791 at Rowell, Northamptonshire (ref 1851 census) though the 1841 census has him born in Leicestershire. At the 1830 baptism of daughter Mary, there is also a baptism of a John Stanyon on the same day, son of Sidney & Joanna, in the 19th year of his age, which would be Sidney's previous marriage.
