Anson ~ Third Generation
With variants ANSON, HANSON, HANSONE, HANSOM, HANDSOME, HANDSON, HYNDSON, HINDSON

Family 1 - Thomas Hanson and Frances Farnham of Wetheral (generation 1)
    Issue of John Handsome
1.   Ann HYNDSON
"Ann dau of John Hyndson of Great Corby bap 26 Sep 1754" (ref Wetheral parish records)
Burial 27 Apr 1755 of Ann Hyndson, daughter of John, residence Great Corby (ref Wetheral parish records).

2. . Thomas HYNDSON
"Thos son of John Hyndson of Great Corby bap 24 Mar 1756" (ref Wetheral parish records)

Considerable research has gone into whether this Thomas Hyndson is the same as the one who married Elizabeth Jameson. A FamilyFinder comparison between Frederick Shade (descended from Frances Hanson below, who married James Little) and Rosemary Allen (descended from Thomas who married Elizabeth Jameson) did not come up with a positive result, but it is hoped that future DNA testing of other family members will prove positive. Because of the likelihood that this part is correct, I have added the descendants of that couple into the tree here. It can be altered later if a more accurate solution is found.

Thomas HANSON married 7 Mar 1791 at Saint Cuthbert, Carlisle to Elizabeth JAMESON (ref Ancestry, England Select Marriages, index).
The register (source unknown) shows they were both of the parish, bachelor and spinster, married by Banns on that date, witnesses Robert & Mary Bowman; all signed with their marks.

"John, son of William Hanson of Syke-Foot, baptised 4 Jan 1764." (ref Wetheral parish records)

There are several records relating to a John Anson (weaver of Stonewath) being a marriage on 27 Dec 1797 to Mary Winder (widow) at Wetherall; daughters Ann bap 1 July 1798 and Mary bap 18 Oct 1801, and a record of a Thomas, illegitimate son of John Anson, farmer of Cumwhinton, and of Mary Saunderson of Cumwhinton, being bap 20 Jan 1805. It is not known which of these relates to this John and which to the other on this generation, also from Wetheral.

I have placed these details below with the other John due to the reasons specified below. This may not be correct.

However I am putting the marriage to Mary here because the 1841 census has John, daughter Ann and daughter Mary's daughter Sarah living in Kirk Linton which is where John's brother Nathaniel's son Joseph also was in 1841, a long way away from Wetheral. Or it all might be co-incidental.

Marriage 27 Dec 1797 at Wetheral parish of John ANSON and Mary WINDER; John was a bachelor, Mary a widow, both were of the parish, by banns, witnesses Henry Lambert, Thomas Halenas (ref Wetheral parish records).

Notes about children:

Joseph died in 1805. "Joseph Anson of Great Corby, stone mason, buried 15 Jun 1805 aged 32." (ref Wetheral parish records)
Only 2 out of Joseph's 7 children survived early childhood, and Joseph himself died very young. It remains to be seen whether all these deaths were connected by disease or genetic disposition.

Married 18 Jan 1812 at Wetheral as Frances Anson to James LITTLE (ref IGI). A similar late marriage occurred for Frances' sister Rachel in 1811, also witnessed by Catharine Turnbull.
