Geographical notes:
Great Corby is a township in Wetheral parish, Cumberland, on the river Eden and the Newcastle and Carlisle railway, 4 ½ miles east south east of Carlisle. The most significant property is Corby Castle on the brink of a cliff overlooking the river Eden. John's parents lived at Great Corby.
Carlisle is comprised of two parishes, St Mary and St Cuthbert; there are two district churches, namely, Holy Trinity, in the parish of St Mary, and Christ Church, in that of St Cuthbert.

There is a marriage 7 Jun 1759 at Saint Cuthbert, Carlisle of William Hanson to Jane BLACKLOCK (ref IGI) which may be the one.
According to the baptisms, he was resident at Syke Foot in 1761 & 1764. His father may be the one who died at Syke Foot in 1758.

Bap 7 Jun 1735 at Cumwhitton, Cumberland, Joseph Hanson, son of Thomas Hanson & Francess (ref IGI & Ancestry Select Births).

Marriage 1760 at Irthington, Cumberland of Joseph Anson to Rachel MILLER (ref Boyd's Ist Misc Series 1538-1775 in fmp). Irthington is about 10km from Cumwhitton and slightly less to Wetheral. This record is not found in FamilySearch or Ancestry.

Bap of Rachel Miller 4 Sep 1737 at Irthington, Cumberland, dau of John Miller (ref FamilySearch). This matches the age given at death.

Geographical notes:
Cumwhitton or Cumwhinton which is a small village about 1 mile away from Wetheral and 4 miles from Carlisle. The village lies in Wetheral civil parish. Joseph and his brother William were baptised there.
