1.   John Thomas BRIMAGE
Born 17 Feb 1816 at St Peter Port, Guernsey.
He was christened 3 Mar 1816 at Town Church, St Peter Port, Guernsey. Witnesses were Jean Samways, Jean Brimage, Marie Ray.
Another name, Charles, appears only on the marriage certificate of son Thomas in Liverpool in 1860, but this was several years after John had left his wife and family.

Married (1) 4 Jul 1833 at St Peter Port, Guernsey to Harriet OUTRIDGE. She was bap 2 Aug 1815 at Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, dau of John & Harriet Outridge (ref FamilySearch).

It appears that John left Harriet and had a relationship with Julia SARCHET, who was born in Guernsey, and they had children in 1854 in Guernsey and 1861 in Plymouth. Julia is named as Jane in the 1861 census and Judith in the baptism of their son John in 1861, but as Julia Brimage nee Sarchet in child John's registration. The 1851 census of St Peter Port shows Julia as being born c1835 at St Peter Port, daughter of William and Catherine Sarchet.

Death reg of Harriet Brimage Jun qtr 1861 at W. Derby dist, Lancashire (ref FreeBMD). Julia had disappeared from the picture by 1867, and in the 1871 census was living on Guernsey.

John married (2) Sep qtr 1867 at Plymouth, Devon as John Thomas Brimage to Mary NETHERTON (ref FreeBMD). Birth reg of Mary Elizabeth Maria Netherton Jun qtr 1846 at Plymouth (ref FreeBMD).

Child #18, John Thomas, identified his mother as Sarah Gray at his marriage, but is likely to be a mistake, as there is no Sarah Gray living at Plymouth in the 1881 census, and John's father appeared to be living with his wife Mary Netherton at that time.

Mary's death has not been found; there is contractory information about (1) mention of Sarah Gray; (2) Emma age 11 named as an orphan in 1891; (3) Harriet age 15 in the Dorset Girls' Industrial School; (4) though John identified as married in 1891.

Death reg of John Thomas Brimage Dec qtr 1893 at Plymouth aged 79 (ref FreeBMD).

The Mary Brimmage or Brimage who was an inmate in 1911 at the Plymouth Workhouse and Infirmary, Greenbank, Plymouth (widow, age 63, formerly Charwoman) and whose death was registered in 1923 was widow of William Brimage, Labourer, according to her death certificate; she died 5 Mar 1923, age 76 (Death Certificate seen).

2.   Thomas BRIMAGE
Born 2 Feb 1818 at Falmouth, Cornwall (ref Army attestation papers available on findmypast).
He was christened 15 Feb 1818 at Town Church, Guernsey. Christening witnesses were Jean Brimage, Jean Samways, Marie Ray.
Thomas became a soldier. He enlisted on 18 Oct 1835 and was attested on 20 Oct 1835 at Jersey on the Island of Jersey into the Rifle Brigade, stating that he was born in or near the town of Falmouth, aged 17 years 9 months, and by trade a Cabinet Maker. He served as a Private from 20 Oct 1835 to 1 Jun 1840, including the period from 4 Sep 1838 to 12 Nov 1838 when he was imprisoned (in unknown circumstances). It then became evident that he was "labouring under incipient consumption" which made him unable to perform the duties of a soldier, and that it had not been "caused or aggravated by vice or intemperance".
He died in Sep 1840 in Guernsey. He was buried 24 Sep 1850 at Stranger's Cemetery, Guernsey. At his death his age was given as "Aged 22 Yrs 7 Mths".		  
3.   Mary Ann BRIMAGE
Born 15 Aug 1821 at St Peter Port, Guernsey.
She was christened 12 Sep 1821 at Town Church, Guernsey. Christening witnesses were Jean Rey, Rachel Phillips, Jane Le Gallez.
