Death reg of James Bunyan 1896 at Penrith, son of John & Fanny (ref NSW reg 11229/1896).
"DEATH. We have to chronicle this week the death of a very old resident of Emu, Mr. James Bunyan, sen., which took place at his son-in-law's (Mr. T. Dukes) on Friday of last week. The deceased gentleman, who was 75 [70] years of age, had been ailing some months; he had a heavy cold at first, which afterwards turned to chronic bronchitis, from which he died. Mr. Bunyan had been in the country somewhere about forty years (coming from England), thrity of which he spent on Emu. His remains were interred in the Church of England portion of the General Cemetery at Emu on Saturday last, Rev. H. Fryer officiating at the grave. In 1853, Jesse (20) and Susan (18) migrated to NSW Australia as assisted immigrants on the vessel Meteor, arriving 6 Jul 1853. Jesse was a Farm Labourer, son of John & Fanny living at Barkway. Susan was dau of James & Ann Burrows living at Chisley, Essex. They were going to a brother James Bunyan living in Harrington St Sydney. He was CofE, she was Meth, both could read & write (ref Ancestry Passenger Lists).
