Possibly born about 1660 based on the age of his wife. There is no IGI or findmypast or Cornwall OPC record found.

Marr 3 May 1688 at Poughill to Jane PUDNER (ref findmypast, where he is listed as Philip Junior; also ref Phillimores in Cornwall OPC where he is listed as Philip the younger). Birth of Jane Pudner 30 Jan 1655/56 at Poughill, bap 7 Feb 1657/58, dau of John & Grace Pudner (ref Cornwall OPC).

There is a burial of Philip Cornish 24 Nov 1734 at Poughill which might be this one (ref findmypast & parish record on Family Search Record Collection for Poughill, page 113).

Occupation Clerk. See photo page for a photo of the parish church and of the list of Vicars; Alexander is listed as Vicar in 1696.

Marr 3 Jan 1687/88 at Poughill to Elizabeth ADDAMS (ref Phillimores which has Adams, and BTs in Cornwall OPC & Cornwall FHS in fmp have Addams). She was probably not the one born at Kilkhampton in 1658 (due to her subsequent marriage).

Gideon was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13 as:

There is a burial of Gideon Cornish 13 Mar 1764 at Marhamchurch, Cornwall (ref findmypast).

2.   Samuel CORNISH
Bap 14 Sep 1684 at Poughill, Sam, son of Gideon and Susanah (ref BTs in Cornwall OPC) (son, no Christian name given in IGI and findmypast).

Married c1708 to Grace, surname unknown. She was born about 1681 in England (ref her age at death).

Samuel was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13 as:
"To my brother Giddions sones:
Giddion, Samuel, John & Phillip 1 shilling a piece".

Grace was buried 21 Jun 1760 at Kilkhampton, Cornwall, the wife of Samuel yeoman (ref Cornwall OPC). Ref Kilkhampton Bishop's Transcript: Buried 1760, Grace, wife of Samuel Cornish, Yeoman, June (date obscured). The LDS tape 476219 (monumental inscriptions at Kilkhampton) has CORNISH, Grace, w of Samuel Cornish of Stibb. Burd. Jun 21, 1760 age 79; and also Samuel, s. of above Samuel and Grace, burd. August 27, 1759 age 39.

Samuel was buried 10 May 1765 at Kilkhampton, his residence Stibb, occupation Yeoman (ref Cornwall OPC).
Will dated (before death) 8 March 1765.
Will proved (after death) 22 May 1765.
Will mentions 5 of the 6 children.

A partial transcription of the Will is as follows:
"To son Daniel Cornish the Hanging Press, the Chest in the Broad Chamber and the Bedsteads in the same, the clock, Dresser, Long Table Board, Moonstone trough in the cellar, Chest in the Barn and all Plough Tackle.
To son Philip Cornish Moonstone trough in the Brew House, Hand Malt Mill and 1/- [one shilling].
To daughter Grace Ashton 1/-.
To son-in-law William Boundy 1/-.
Residue to daughter Dorcas Burnard, and [she] to be Executrix.

Bap of John Cornish 2 Aug 1687 at Poughill, Cornwall (ref IGI & findmypast).
Bap of John Cornish 25 Aug 1687 at Poughill, Cornwall (ref BTs in Cornwall OPC Database with name "Joh").
The C OPC gives the explanation that the date is obscured in the fold of the book, so 25 is more likely as having been copied from the original.

There are two John Cornishes of very similar ages in Poughill (1687 and 1690, see next generation). Based on their ages and the connection here with Kilkhampton, it is more likely that it is this John Cornish who married Grace Elliott; I have given the other John Cornish on the next generation the marriage in 1719 to Martha Martyn (bap 1695 at Poughill).

Marr 28 Dec 1712 at Kilkhampton of John Cornish to Grace ELLIOTT (ref Phillimores in Cornwall OPC). Bap of Grace Elliot 28 May 1689 at Kilkhampton, Cornwall, dau of Thomas & Elizabeth (ref FS etc).

John was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13 as:
"To my brother Giddions sones:
Giddion, Samuel, John & Phillip 1 shilling a piece".

Possible burial of Grace 11 Sep 1725 at Kilkhampton, 'wife of John (Blacksmith)' (ref Cornwall OPC).

There are two probable burials for John at Poughill, one on 8 Aug 1741 and one on 24 Sep 1745 but no further information is given on the burials (ref Cornwall OPC Database for both and the parish record for the second in Family Search Record Collection for Poughill, page 115). There is a marriage at Poughill of a Phillip Cornish 26 Feb 1719[/20] to Honor PARNALL, no children found, may be this or one below (b. 1695/96) or one on next page (b. 1689) (ref Cornwall OPC). Her baptism not found in Cornwall OPC or FamilySearch.

Margaret was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13:

2.   Daniel CORNISH
Bap of Daniel Cornish 15 Jun 1681 at Poughill, Cornwall, son of Daniel and Allice (ref BTs in Cornwall OPC Database). The other entry in C OPC has 16 Jun, and the forename obscured in fold of book.

Assumed to be the Daniel Cornish who married 3 Jan 1717 at Poughill to Elizabeth CORNISH (ref Cornwall OPC Database). She was probably bap 21 Nov 1688 at Poughill, dau of Alexander Cornish & Elizabeth Addams. Less likely (because of the widening age gap) is the one bap Jan 1694 at Poughill, dau of Phillip Cornish & Jane Pudner.

Daniel was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13:
"Dated 18th March, 1712/13. Proved 13th July at Bodmin.
To brother Daniell 1 shilling
To Daniell & Phillip & Margrit, his sons and dau 1 shilling a piece".

Bap of Honour Cornish 5 Oct 1684 at Poughill, Cornwall, dau of Daniel and Alice (ref BTs in Cornwall OPC Database; IGI and findmypast do not have the day).

Marriage 14 Feb 1704 [presumably 1704/05] at Poughill of Honor Cornish to Aaron PETHICK (ref Phillimores in Cornwall OPC). The name is rare in Cornwall and the only bap found in COPC is Aron Pethick bap 27 Jan 1671 at Tremaine, son of Diggory and Joane.

Burial of Aaron Pethick 20 Nov 1710 at Poughill (ref Cornwall OPC).

Honour was mentioned in Chamond's Will dated 18 Mar 1712/13:
"Honour Pethick * her children "is to have their proportion " (with Mary, of the residue)".
