Introduction
Greenway ~ First Generation
| The
first known generation of this particular Greenway family
commences in Wiltshire with George GREENAWAY and
Betty HUMPHREYS. The general area of interest in
Wiltshire includes Corsham, Chippenham and Box which are
closely connected. Marriage 15 May 1760 at Corsham, Wiltshire of George GREENAWAY to Betty HUMPHREYS (ref FamilySearch). There is also another George Greenaway at Corsham who married Ann Baun in 1763 so even if a baptism or death for George were found it would not be clear which George it was. Probable burial of Betty Greenaway on 26 Jan 1822 at St Bartholomew, Corsham, Wiltshire, aged 76 (ref fmp, National Burial Index). This would give her birth in 1746 which is probably a bit late compared with the marriage so she might have been a little older at death. Burial of George not found. |
