Marr 1 Jan 1759 in Kenton Parish, to Mary TUCKER (ref Kenton parish and IGI records). 'George Serle, bachelor & Mary Tucker, spinster, both of this parish, Licence, witnesses Richard Carnall, Richard Kenwood'. She was christened 20 Oct 1736 in Kenton Parish, Devon, the daughter of Edward Tucker and Mary (ref Kenton parish and IGI records).

TUCKER FAMILY
Mary had 4 siblings, Rebecca (1726), Edward (1728), John (1730) and Allen Warren (1739).
Their parents, Edward Tucker and Mary Warren, married on 28 May 1726 at Kenton.
Edward had siblings Edward (1701) and Joan (1706) and was bap in 1702, son of Edward Tucker and Mary Dinis.
Mary had siblings Allen (f, 1695), Christopher (1698) and Richard (1703-1707) and was bap in 1700, daughter of Allen Warren and Jane.

FURTHER INFORMATION
In the parish records at Kenton there are deaths of George SERLE on 15 Aug 1779 and 8 Aug 1793; the first is most likely in regard to the following paragraph.

Family legend says "during the last twenty years of the 18th. century the head of our branch of the family died young, leaving his affairs so involved that there was little or nothing left to his widow and her family which included at least two boys, James and William. They took refuge in the little fishing village of Starcross about nine miles from Exeter in Devonshire." See Photo Page for an old picture of Starcross.
