WILL OF JOHN WARD [signed 1 Aug 1761, buried 23 Dec 1761, proved 18 Dec 1762]
"In the Name of God Amen I John Ward of Newton Harcourt in the County of Leicester Yeoman being of Sound & Disposing Mind & Memory Do make & Publish This my last Will & Testament in manner following (vizt.) First All my Messuages Lands Tenements & Hereditaments whatsoever & wheresoever I Give & Devise unto my Son William Ward his Heirs & Assigns for ever. I Give unto my Son Samuel Thirty Pounds which was left him by his Grandfather John Grant and which I received for the life of my said Son of the said John Grants Executors. Also All other my Goods Cattle Chattels ready money and Securities for money and Personal Estate whatsoever & wheresoever (my Debts being paid & Funeral Expenses discharged) I Give & Bequeath unto my said son Samuel and my two younger Sons Buckley and Thomas Ward And I do hereby make them my said three sons Samuel Buckley & Thomas Joint Executors of This my last Will & Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this First Day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and Sixty One.

John was buried at St Wistan Church burial ground, Wistow, Leicestershire; listed as died 1761 age 65, born c1696, died 19 Dec 1761 (ref Ancestry, gravestonephotos website).

There is some confusion in the place of baptism for each child, as the Vicar of Wistow performed many baptisms at the parish of Newton Harcourt. This was known as the Chapelry of Newton Harcourt in the parish of Wistow.
