Issue of John Wardle and Elizabeth Johnson
1.   Thomas WARDLE
Born 19 Jan 1715(/16); bap 15 Feb 1715(/16) at Brancepeth, Durham, Thomas, son of John Wardell (ref FamilySearch P00008-1).

Marr 16 Jun 1739 at Richmond, Yorkshire of Thomas Wardall to Elizabeth HANBY (ref FamilySearch M05919-2).
This is based on an Ancestry Public Tree, no further confirmation that it is the correct Thomas (though his age at death does fit). Bap 8 Jul 1705 at Melsonby, Yorkshire of Elizabetha Hanby, dau of Willielmi & Dorotheae Hanby (ref FamilySearch C06071-2).

Thomas received a legacy from his father John who died in 1748. It is unclear from this Will who inherited the property at Page Bank, Brancepeth, and if Thomas did, it brings into doubt the Yorkshire connection documented here. Further clarification is required.

Some Ancestry Public Trees have the following marriage by Thomas the son of Robert Wardle & Mary Wilkinson, but the name spelling at the marriage (Tho Wardell) is more consistent with the present family, as is the fact that they lived at Brancepeth like other siblings.

Marr 23 Mar 1755 at Allendale, Northumberland of Tho Wardell to Barbara ROBSON (ref FamilySearch M00242-1). There is a record of Banns for Thomas Wardel and Barbara Robson in 1755 at Brancepeth (ref fmp, Boyd's Marriage Index). Barbara was born c1729 (ref burial record).

Burial of Barbara Wardell 14 Dec 1803 at St Brandon, Brancepeth, Durham, aged 74, abode Brancepeth, wife of Thomas Wardell (ref fmp, Northumberland & Durham Burials, and National Burial Index).
Burial of Thomas Wardell 29 Sep 1806 at Brancepeth, Durham, age 84, residence Brancepeth (ref fmp, Northumberland & Durham Burials). This gives a birth date of approx 1722 which does not match the presumed birth but the age might easily have been wrong. .

Bap 28 Apr 1731 at Auckland Saint Andrew, Durham, Robert, son of Robert Wardale (ref FamilySearch P00021-2).
Robert's burial gives an estimated birth year of 1726. I have researched all variations of the surname for another suitable Robert in Durham or Yorkshire but cannot find one.

Marriage 1 Dec 1773 at Hutton Magna, Yorkshire, England of Robert WARDLE to Elizabeth HURWITH (ref FamilySearch M06327-1). Elizabeth's most likely burial gives an estimated birth year of 1748. However the most likely baptism is of Elizabeth, dau of Robert Hurwith of Newsham, on 16 Mar 1756 at Kirkby Ravensworth, Yorkshire (ref fmp).

Burial of Robert Wardale 21 Jan 1803 at St Peter & St Felix, Kirkby Ravensworth, Yorkshire, age 77.
