Yorkshire, England. Parish of Sculcoates. Registration District of Sculcoates. Address: 2 Wellington Place. Together with his parents and a servant: Edwd Stanley Milner. Son. Age 5. Born Sculcoates. His mother died in 1856 and his father in 1860. His uncle William Milner was made Guardian. "MILNER Edward. Effects under £1,000. 20 September. Letters of Administration of the Personal estate and effects of Edward Milner late of the Borough of Kingston-upon-Hull in the County of York Chemist and Druggist a Widower deceased who died 6 August 1860 at the said Borough were granted at York under the usual Limitations to William Milner of the said Borough Grocer the Uncle and Guardian of Edward Stanley Milner a Minor the only Child of the said Deceased he having been first sworn." Shipbroking Clerk. Born Hull. No more is found of Edward in England, and the following details MAY apply to him, though various dates mutate as time goes by. Edward migrated to the United States of America and was naturalized on 18 Oct 1879 at the County Court, Kings County, New York (ref Ancestry US Naturalization Record Indexes in the name of Edward Milner). The following details apply to Edward MILNES who may be the same person. He married Mary Etta MARGREY c1891 (ref www.findagrave.com) though his birth date on the grave is given as 1865. In the findagrave website there is a photo of the gravestone of the couple, with Edward Milnes born 1865, died 1921 and Mary E. Margrey born 1862, died 1940. Children Clarence Swift Milnes (1892-1953), Thomas Edgar Milnes (1895-1954) and George Walter Milnes (1899-1968) also have findagrave entries. In 1924 Mary applied for a passport; her entry has several contradictions in dates but she does state that her husband Edward Milnes was born at Leed [sic], England, on 29 Jan 1851; this is a lot closer to Edward Stanley Milner than Edward Milnes' other stated birth year of 1865. 		Issue of Thomas Eagles and Harriett Petronella Tregear
1.		Charles EAGLES Birth of Charles Eagles 13 Jun 1826, bap 23 Oct 1826 at Madras St Mary, India, son of Thos & Harriet (ref fmp, British India Office Births & Baptisms). Marriage 3 Nov 1847 at Kamptee, Madras of Charles Eagles to Christiana ELLIOTT; Charles was age 21, bachelor, son of Thomas Eagles, Gunner, 3rd Battalion of Artillery; Christianna [sic] was age 15, spinster, dau of Farrier Elliott (ref fmp British India Office Marriages image). There is a Christiana Elliott born 1835 in Herringfleet, Suffolk, dau of George Elliott, but she would have been too young to be this one, and she died in 1858. Death of Charles Eagles, Staff Serjeant, Madras, on 13 Aug 1860, buried on 14 Aug 1860 at Rangoon, Bengal (ref fmp British India Office Wills & Probate). Marriage 29 Aug 1861 at Saint Thomas Mount, Madras, India of Christiana Eagles to William SMORFITT; she was age 28, widowed, born c1833, dau of George Elliott; William was age 43, born c1818, son of James Smorfitt (ref Ancestry India Select Marriages). Death reg of William Smorfitt 20 Sep 1864, buried 21 Sep 1864 at Madras, Madras, India, age 49 (born c1815) (ref Ancestry India Select Deaths and Burials). No further information found about Christiana.

2.		George EAGLES Bap of George Eagles 6 May 1829 at St Thomas Mount, Madras, India, son of Thomas & Harriett (ref Ancesty India Select Births & Baptisms no image). George probably died in 1866. There is a reference in fmp British India Office Wills of Soldiers which appears to be reconciling payments to George's estate after his decease; George Eagles, Assistant Apothecary, on 11 Sep 1866 paid to the Brigade Major Bellary [in Madras] date of decease not known. On this other hand, this may relate to his brother Thomas who died that year.
3.		Thomas Casaly [Cazaly] EAGLES Birth of Thomas Casaly Eagles 17 Jul 1832, bap 4 Oct 1843 at Nagpoor, Madras, India, son of Thomas Eagles & Harriett Petrenella [sic], together with 2 brothers (ref fmp India Select Births & Baptisms image; Ancestry incorrectly puts the birth date as 17 Jul 1843). Death of Thomas Cazalet Eagles 14 Mar 1866, buried 14 Mar 1866 at Bellary, Madras, age 33 yrs 8 mths (ref fmp British India Office Deaths & Burials).,

William Lowe EAGLES Birth of William Lowe [printed as Love] Eagles 17 Nov 1835, bap 4 Oct 1843, age 7, at Nagpoor, Madras, India, son of Thomas Eagles & Harriett Letrerolla [sic], together with 2 brothers (ref fmp India Select Births & Baptisms image). She is transcribed as Petrenella in fmp British India Office Births & Baptisms. Death of William Lowe Eagles 14 Dec 1852, buried 15 Dec 1852 at Madras, son of Thomas Eagles & Harriet Peternellakis [sic], age 17 (Ancestry India Select Deaths & Burials no image and fmp).

John EAGLES Birth of John Eagles 1 May 1841, bap 4 Oct 1843 at Nagpoor, Madras, India, son of Thomas Eagles & Harriett Letrerolla [sic], together with 2 brothers (ref fmp India Select Births & Baptisms image). She is transcribed as Petrenella in fmp British India Office Births & Baptisms. Death of John Eagles 4 Sep 1848, buried 4 Sep 1848 at Madras, India, son of Thomas Eagles & Harriett Petronella, age 7 (ref Ancestry India Select Deaths & Burials no image & fmp).
6.		Harriett Louisa EAGLES Birth of Harriett Louisa Eagles 22 Feb 1844, bap 3 Apr 1844 at Nagpore, Madras, India, dau of Thomas Eagles & Harriett Peternella [sic] (ref Ancestry India Select Births & Baptisms no image). Marriage 30 Jan 1862 at Bangalore, Madras of Harriett Louisa Eagles to William Furburgh DICKINS; Harriett's father was Thomas Eagles; William's father was William Dickins (ref fmp British India Office Marriages). Presumably Harriett died between 1862 and 1866. Marriage 6 Oct 1866 at Broach, Bombay, India of William Turbough [Furburgh] Dickins to Ellen Angelina LOCKER (ref Ancestry India Select Marriages). They had a child Arthur George Dickins in 1875.
7.		Henry EAGLES Born c1846 (registration not found). The Will of his father Thomas Eagles, dated 6 Sep 1866. "In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Eagles Deputy Assistant Commissary of Ordnance of the Ordnance Department in the Madras Establishment, being in health of body, and in sound mind,and memory do make this my last Will and Testament, at the same time revoking all former Wills made by me, declaring this to be my last Will and Testament. After payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses, I give and bequeath unto Harriett Petronella [or Petrinella] Eagles my Wife, and in case of her death to my son Henry Eagles Clerk in the Audit Office of the Chief Commissioner of Mysore, all my real and personal estate, and hereby appoint my wife Harriett Petronal [?] Eagles and my son Henry Eagles joint Executrix and Executor of this my last Will and Testament, as witness my hand this sixth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and sixty six. Signed Thos Eagles, Deputy Asst Comm of Ordn. Signed and acknowledged by the said Thomas Eagles the Testator,and for his last Will and Testament, in the presence of us,who at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses." Cecilia Elizabeth WOUTERSZ was born 1849 in India and her family is widely documented in FamilySearch. Her death not found. Marriage (2) 29 Oct 1884 at All Saints Church, Bangalore, of Henry Eagles to Grace Caroline JOHNSON; Henry was age 38, widower, Chief Asst Comptr Office, Mysore, son of Thomas Eagles; Grace was age 18, spinster, dau of William Johnson; both resident Bangalore; by Banns; witness Jas. Mackay, Geo. Eagles (ref fmp British India Office Marriages, incorrectly indexed). That George Eagles was possibly his nephew. Grace Caroline's death not found. Death of Henry Eagles 10 Apr 1915, buried 10 Apr 1915 at Bangalor All Saints, Madras, age 69, occupation Comptroller Mysore Government (Retired) (ref fmp India Deaths). 'Most streets in the Langford Town area are named after high-ranking British officers and soldiers, says Arun Prasad, independent researcher on Bengaluru's history and head of Discover Bengaluru. Eagle Street is named after Henry Eagles who was the financial comptroller to the king of Mysore in 1893 and died here in April 1915. The Eagles are said to have married into the Johnson family in Richmond Town and their children were educated at the Baldwin School in the area. "Eagle Street was the southernmost extension of the Cantonment that was formed in the 1850s. It was a typical European layout with wide roads and tree-lined avenues," said Prasad. The cemetery at the end of the road is a heritage structure in itself. "It still holds tombstones of British soldiers and officers, designed with intricate floral motifs."
